About Dr Bala Srinivasan

Dr Srinivasan qualified from Chennai in India with an Endowment medal in the fields of Biochemistry and Forensic Medicine. He has subsequently gained his Medical training in Wales and Yorkshire before moving to Specialty Training in Leicester.

Dr Srinivasan has worked for Prof. Melanie Davies and Prof. Kamlesh Khunti running a multinational Diabetes Screening and intervention study and thereby gaining his MD in 2011. He has research grants for £250,000 through his Research and has obtained the Young Diabetologist Travel Award, Diabetes UK 2010 (Co-author), Diabetes UK Type 2 Research Award 2011 and 2009, Young Diabetologist Travel Award 2009, Diabetes UK Primary Care Award 2013 and Young Diabetologist and Endocrinologists Travel Award 2013 and the First Prize in British Endocrine Society Clinical cases Meeting 2012 through regional, national and International Presentations.

Dr Srinivasan has over 25 peer reviewed publications as first or coauthor. He has over 50 published abstracts and authored chapters in three textbooks. His key interests are in bone metabolism and establishing an Education Model for weight management.

He is a peer reviewer for Journals in Diabetes and Endocrinology. He is presently the Clinical Lead for Diabetes and Endocrinology at the ULHT.
