Beyond OA: An Approach to Inflammatory Arthritis

A patient presents with a new joint swelling. It may of course be osteoarthritis, but what if it is something other than wear-and-tear. We will focus on accurate history taking, practical clues, key differentials and the tools we can use to identify which form of arthritis it is, osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, gout, or psoriatic arthropathy. You will become more confident in diagnosing each of the conditions as well as the different treatment options available and which to choose. Finally we will discuss when it might be necessary to refer to secondary care.
