Remote Diagnosis and Management of Skin Conditions in Primary Care

COVID-19 has changed our lives in many ways including making remote consulting the new norm.

In this session you will learn and understand the following:

• The benefits of remote consulting

• How to successfully address some of the challenges encountered, such as gaining consent, confidentiality, quality of images and the constraints on effective examination

• The importance of record keeping and sharing your advice with your patient, ideally with a written action plan

• Practical tips on taking a ‘targeted’ dermatological history, picking out the elements that will help you to reach a diagnosis and assess the severity of a skin problem remotely, along with the tools that are available

It will focus on how the distribution and description of a rash is key to a confident skin diagnosis, whilst covering some of the more common skin conditions to think about when a patient has a rash affecting different body sites, such as the flexures, scalp, or face, along with management tips.
