The Community Pharmacy Consultation Service: how to maximise your contribution to urgent care

  • Swinton Park Golf Club East Lancashire Road Swinton, England United Kingdom (map)

The Community Pharmacy Consultation Service (CPCS) has arguably revolutionised pharmacy’s contribution to NHS urgent care services. Commissioned by NHS England, patients can now be referred to a pharmacy for an emergency medication supply and/or minor ailment consultation. As with all new services, it is important we understand what is expected by the NHS to ensure high-quality patient care.

The first event of the newly launched Greater Manchester Pharmacy Academy, pharmacists and CPCS experts Andre Yeung and Mike Maguire will offer their insights of the service. In the North East, Andre and Mike developed and delivered the original NHS 111 refer to pharmacy system which preceded CPCS. The evening will involve discussion of example referrals and how those patients could be cared for by pharmacy teams.
